Christmas?

In a rather strange turn of events, this was my view on Christmas Eve. Where's the snow? Nowhere to be found in Hopkins, Belize. Taken 12.24.14.

Steam

Double headers make so much steam! These two can usually be seen in the north on the East Lancashire Railway or pulling main line expresses like The Jacobite or The Cumbrian Mountain Express. Taken 12.11.14.

Cathedrals

The real reason I was hanging around Oxford Station- a pair of Black Fives hauling the Cathedrals Express. No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier and No. 44871 are both owned by Ian Riley of Riley and Son Ltd in Bury, which is responsible for most of the overhaul work on preserved steam engines. He also owns a third Black Five and a Merchant Navy class, neither of which are currently operational. Taken 12.11.14.

Oxford Diesel

A First Great Western Class 180 leaving Oxford station bound for London Paddington. Diesels aren't nearly as interesting as steam locos... Taken 12.11.14.

Mill Chimney

The chimney of the Ebor Mill in Haworth, West Yorkshire. Apparently there was a massive fire here in 2010, and most of the mill had to be demolished. Taken 12.06.14.

No. 43924

A Fowler 4F 0-6-0 loco, No. 43924, and a Class 37 diesel in the yard if Haworth, West Yorkshire, on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. You can just see the No 5820, a 2-8-0 built in Lima, Ohio, peeking out of the shed. Taken 12.06.14.

Hushings

The rhododendrons make a surreal contrast with the native plants. The strange hummocks are left over from 'hushing' for limestone. You can also just see Pendle Hill over the treeline. Shedden Clough, Burnley, Lancashire. Taken 11.30.14.

Fairyland

There must have been an estate nearby Shedden Clough at one point, because there were tons of Rhododendrons everywhere. Taken 11.30.14.

Kittens!

So we adopted three new cats this summer, which means the whole house is generally in an uproar now. Dora is on the left, and Maeve is on the left (the third is called Hazel). Taken 8.3.14.

Boomer

Life is insane and busy, so I think what's going to happen is that I'll just update whenever I have new photos, meaning in all likelihood that this will continue to be sporadic.

This is left over from July. This pretty guy's name is Boomer, and he's an ex-racehorse. His racing name was Point of Impact, if anybody feels inclined to look him up. Taken 7.13.14.
